Catlins Coast

So it was my last weekend in Queenstown! A few of us decided to go to the Castlins Forest and see some new sites! We headed off  it was Me, Richie, Pete and our buddie Ian!

After Driving for 2 hours we came across this! 2 guys were driving towing a trailer with a car on it... the axle on the trailer snapped flipping the trailer followed by flipping the car that they were in!... Everyone was okay the passenger was a little beat up but okay!... So it looked like that was it for us moving forward for a while seeing as this mess was blocking the whole road!

NOT! We got a couple guys together and flipped the car that was towing the trailer then unstrapped the car from the trailer and throw that sucker over into the bushes. And like that the road was opened back up again! Leaving just the car that was on the trailer!

From there we went to the farm(some dirt jumps along the way) and picked up Kate and Samantha to join on our Catlins adventure!... adding them to the car filled the car up! I said ill go in the trunk haha! it was a called out to be 45min drive!.. 2 hours later we arrive at the coast! I couldn't wait to get out! 

One of the things to see in the Catlins is this cool little place called Nugget Point! 

Then the next stop was these Cathedral caves which was closed! and trespassers will be shot? There was a a sign with a man with i gun! ha So i said i want to meet this man who's going to shot us! haha there was no man! But we walked quite a ways to get to the caves cause the gate was closed!

We finally arrived at the beach! 

Me and Pete took off running cause we could see the tide was coming in! We wanted to get in the cave before the water came up to much!

Me and Pete just made it in! Richie wasn't looking and jumped off the rocks that kept you out of the water only to be engulfed by a wave up to his waist!( he was wearing his pants with is phone in his pocket!) Bummer!

This was the best shot i got while in there. It was real hard to try and get a good picture while at the same time the tide was coming in quick!

I had on shorts so on the way out snapped this one of the cave getting over taken by water!

From there i timed it just right so that i could run on the sand while everyone else took the high road back into the beach!

Time is Flying!!!

Time is Flying by! I cant believe how fast things are happening .... i will leave you with this while i make my way around the south island! More Updates when i have time!

Moke Lake

Work was over ... we were out! The guys hadn't climbed the Ben Lomond yet and i wanted to camp so we headed off again! This time Me and Pete were hiking then camping up in the mountains... Richie joined us for the hike but no camp ( He had to get the sand out of his vagina) haha. Hiking the BL with my big as pack on was a hell of alot harder than no pack like the time before! But like always once you get to the top its all worth it! Maybe more worth it cause you had to put in some extra work!

Taking some time to just take it all in!

Things look like they are going to be fun to hike from far away but man when you get right up to them it just blows me away every time! Pete leading the pack blazing our own path!

It was another perfect spot... took us a few mins to find a good spot for our tents amongst all this brush... 

There he is! The chef in his newly built Kitchen haha... we didn't know if we should make a fire or not ... we went for a little walk around ended up finding enough wood for a little fire so i gathered a bunch of rocks for a nice fire pit and boy am i glad we did that! It got cold as we were cooking and was nice to have a warm fire to eat by.

Dinner was unreal!! Camping with pete has made me change my idea of camp food ha.... this time it was mixed grain quinoa, with onions and garlic that he sautéed first, potatoes with thyme and basil, steamed broccoli, then avocado with onions that had pepper and lemon juice on them.... it was way to good to be 1. Cooked out of my tiny mess kit. and 2. To be camping food!.. Thanks pete for ruining my thought of camp food! haha

I like adventures... from when we left the top of BL we made our own trail... it was a blast this shows a little bit of the terrain that we were crossing.... Pete making his way across a real steep part that if you weren't holding on to any brush your feet were coming out from under you!

We made it tho everyones alive from here down was the easy part... on your ass sliding down haha way faster and way less abuse to the body!

There she is Moke lake! Pete did some fishing i made some PB&J's the it got really windy and we left!

Back at it making our way home... this is too easy in NZ.

PARTY PLUS!!!

Been slacking big time! But at the same time i've been working my ass off! The last week and a half my buddy Adam said he needed some help at work (Party Plus) and asked if i wanted to work... I decided it was a good idea to work make some money so i can rent a car!... It was awesome!  We worked hard some days but most the time we were just having a good time! We worked long hours.. no less than 10 hours days ever day we even worked on sunday!  For the most part we were setting up big marquees (tents) for weddings or parties whatever they wanted!

 This was my "BOSS" Adam! haha in the work truck! He fucks around just as much as all of us! ha 

Putting up the silks to make er look pretty! Wish i had a picture of the final product this one was unreal! 

Lots of Laughing happened here because Dave the guy to the left of me is making farting nosies with him back... had us all crying because we were so freaking tired from working so much! ha

That tent went up on this crazy amazing golf course. They have art work strung all over the course. This is one of them there is 100 of these wolves set up to attack this guy with a sword pretty amazing....cant even imagine how much money that cost!

Hard at work! ha we forgot to put the pull strings in for the silks so i climbed up and put it in! 

We had to take down the golf course tent as soon as the party was over. The party was saturday so that meant we were there sunday! Adam grabbed the company card and treated us to a massive burger, corn and a few beers! It was perfect! 

I said we worked hard some times... other times we were back at the yard screwing around doing shit like this... who can roll the barrel from one crack to the other!

This was the end product of the massive marquee we put up! Anytime i got a little frustrated that i was working i just looked out into the mountains surrounding us and everything was okay! Thanks for the job Adam! You the MAN!

Weekend get away!

So at the end last week Richie and Pete didn't have work so we knew we had to get out of Queenstown and see some new stuff! Once again be got back on the road Thumbing...This time we made our way down south to Riverton! A small beach town... hick town we found out haha. We all made our way down separately and were gunna meet at the big bridge in town... i was the first one at the bridge. There was a bunch of kids jumping off the bridge so i got right into my swim shorts and joined them! i was there for a while like where the hell are the guys.... walk around town for a little next thing i hear someone whistling at me... its Pete he's coming out of the bar! His hitch ride got him drunk! ha and found out from him that Richie was stuck changing a flat and walking his way to Riverton haha.   In the end we all made it there... and so we set off to find our picture perfect camp spot..and we deff found it!

Just after the sun set i went and messed around with the camera and long exposure shots got a bunch of cool shots of the waves! 

We stayed up pretty late that night just hanging by the fire.. playing the harmonica for a while..Listened to CCR through a sea shell and Richie's iPhone... Looked at the stars and the bad moon on the rising.... Saw the most amazing shooting star ill probably ever see! It was so long and had a massive blue tail! Richie wanted to do the messing around with the night shots this time real stoked on this one!

We didn't do a lot of hiking this time but the hiking we did was totally different than the last hike! Bare feet grass and not half as long!

Day 2 was filled with lots of chillin Me and Richie found a good rock set up to hang our hammocks from! Pic is from Richie's point of view 

OH and lots of ice cream eating happened too! ... this place had amazing ice cream for 2.50$ New Zealand is one of the most expensive places ive been to find a massive serving of ice cream for 2.50 we  had to take advantage of it! Lets just say we became locals at this place in a days time! ha

The last night i was reading in my hammock and Richie got all stoked to take another night shot this one also turned out bad ass! 

JET BOAT!

So the other day me and the boys were looking to do something new and exciting. We hit up our buddy Devin who works for the Shotover jet which is basically a crazy fast boat that can go through real thin water.. i believe it could be 4in deep at the least! OH and the boat drivers are a bunch of nut bags that like to drive way close to the rocks in the Canyon! Anyhow he hooked it up had for us! So we had to try it out!

Sooo the story goes... No Cameras on the boat! Me, Richie and Pete all have GoPros ...we wanted to video this whole thing!... There is 4 seats in the back.. as we are about to take off this lady sits next to Richie...whatever! boat starts were off! I whip out the GoPro start filming... lady next to Richie works for the place! Freaks out! "ill have him turn the boat off! put that away!" WOW... buzz kill lady! So the rest of the ride was real weird all of us just wanted to get something good to remember it ohh well had a blast either way and i turned the GoPro on later and got this one photo here its not when we are in the canyon but oh well!
